Celebrate Northern Nevada’s heartiest tradition at Chili on the Comstock! Now in its 41st year, the International Chili World Qualifier takes over Virginia City with mouth-watering chili, ice-cold beer, a fiery chili pepper eating challenge, and a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Some of the best chili cooks in the West are competing for their shot at a spot in the International Chili Society World Finals and your vote for People’s Choice Chili. They’re serving up their tastiest spicy, mild, and chili verde. And you can try them all!
Pair your chili tastings with some frosty brews with the Craft Beer Tour. Virginia City’s famous saloons and the Chili on the Comstock Craft Beer Tents are pouring hand-selected local and regional craft beers all weekend long.
BACK IN 2024 – The Great Fire – Hot Chili Pepper Challenge
See how high you can go up the Scoville Scale before tapping out! Each round of this fiery competition will feature a chili pepper hotter than the last. Contestants will have 2 minutes per round to eat the entire chili pepper. If you take a drink or can’t keep the chili down, you’re out. Registration includes two drink tokens valid at one of the event bars, 5 chili samples from Chili on the Comstock cooks, and your chance to be crowned the Chili Eating Champion! The top 3 finishers will win trophies and the champion will go home with a percentage of the registration pot. This event experience features a new challenge and new winners each day!
